He is referring to Indians who were killed because of the British policies in colonial India as opposed to native Americans i believe.
I saw it too, yeah he must be referring to that, although it’s one h-ll of an exageration.
He can’t be refering to Native Americans; most estimates of pre-columbian populations run at about 50 million, the majority of which never had any contact with the Brits because they were in the Spanish colonial areas.
But even the Indian claim seems to be pulled out of thin air. Even if you include Indians killed by the famines of the late 19th century and the 1940’s (which all agree were caused or worsened by British policies, albiet unintentionally) you only get 15 or 16 million killed.
Truth be told, the Brits don’t come close to our own good ol’ American savagry. They never purposely undertook a genocidal campaign against native people, nor did they keep human beings in brutal bondage for hundreds of years.
It was a good bit though; I was laughing my a-s off, these protesters were so clueless-
Actually it was English/American colonists who did the lion share of killing of Native People, an in fact the British govt. created two Indian Affairs superintendents because the colonists could not come up with a coherent Indian Policy and/or were not respecting British-Native Treaties regarding land and trade. In the end the colonists didn’t want to pay 1/3rd of the cost to maintain British garrisons to keep the peace while at the same time allowing their settlers to encroach on Native lands, even allied tribes like the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois). So something for nothing has been around for along time with many American taxpayers.
