Oscar Night: “Avatar” and “Pocahontas” Mashup Trailers

When you’re watching the Oscars tonight, and Avatar wins, remember the debt James Cameron owes to Pocahontas. Hat tip to the New York Review of Books.

Wasn’t able to view these clips on this computer, but shouldn’t he also be required to pay a debt to “Last of the Mohicans?” I’m sorry, but when he goes walking into the Avatar group it is straight out of when Daniel Day Lewis goes walking into the Huron village. I know that scene pretty well because many of my relatives and community members were hired to act in that scene, so it was very deja vu when I watched Avatar. A colleague’s girl friend watched Avatar with him and was, “how could they do that to them.” My colleague just laughed and said, easy, the same way they did that to us. The script/story lacks any ingenuity. Yeah the special effects were great, but that is all. Thus, it will be very disheartening if this picture does as well as all the main stream critics think it will do in the Oscars.
