I just accessed your website that briefly explains the Indian Child Welfare Act. Under the title ‘Who Does the Act Apply To’ you state an Indian is defined as a person who is a member of an Indian tribe. Correct me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t that say a member of a Federally recognized Indian tribe in the United States and members of Canadian Indian Tribes are excluded from this Act? I sincerely hope I am wrong, but I believe I read that the Canadian Indian is not recognized & they have no tribal rights within the United States under any federal program.
