Mr. Eid, Gina Here from New Mexico. I work as a Court Administrator for the Judicial Branch. I’ve been a NNBA member for 20 years, as an advocate. I was a former tribal prosecutor, and I’ve done policy work in NM for a number of years. I now work for the branch. We received needed funding to develop a “Total Community Approach” to address alcohol related violent crime and domestic violence, for youth and adults with the recent CTAS funding 2011. (Healing to Wellness and Teen Court). We’ve been working with out local resources to develop access points for adults and youth for behavioral health services and other justice services. I talked to you at the NNBA conference. The funding for Navajo Nation is not enough for the large area, programming for 110 chapters. The USDOJ funding should be considered in light of the large population base per tribe in order to be effective and strategic. We have the capacity to do the strategic approach with our communities, but we lack the funding for all areas of the Navajo Nation. For more information on our projects (Total Community Approach), including the Aneth Community Court, see our press release at http://www.navajocourts.org. Thank you.
