    It is unfortunate that, once again, the reporters did not bother to check the facts prior to release of this article. As a victim in the Cherie Rhoades matter and also the attorney for the Tribe, I am well aware that the tribal Chairwoman, as well as other Council members, had conversations with the Modoc County Attorney. Despite Mr. Funk’s statements that he did not consult with the tribe, he was told repeatedly to not accept the plea bargain that was offered as we (the Tribe and all eight adult victims) wanted Cherie to be put to death for her crimes.
