The County filed a petition for relief in Humboldt county superior court and attached the investigative subpoena on the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services from the California DOJ. The subpoena includes a request for all internal communications relating to tribes and children who are eligible for enrollment or enrolled in any tribes, among a fair number of other ICWA-related inquiries.

White House honors library on Hoopa Reservation

The White House today presented a public library on the Hoopa Reservation in northern California with a 2007 National Medal for Museum and Library Services award.
First Lady Laura Bush honored the Kim Yerton Branch of the Humboldt County Library with $10,000. The library was the only one in California, and the only one in Indian Country, selected to receive the award. Continue reading
