Dale Kildee, of Michigan’s 5th District, is to retire. He has done an enormous amount of good work for Michigan Indian people and tribes, and we owe him an enormous debt of gratitude.

I first met Congressman Kildee in the 1960s when he helped with civil rights awareness. He served as a reference when I applied to law school many years later and as an example of how a politician can be honest and effective.
