Contract will be for one year with option to renew beginning June 1, 2011.  This is a telecommuting position.

APPLICATIONS

Must self-motivated, and work well with people from different organizations and walks of life.  Native American cultural knowledge and sensitivity required.  Telecommunications experience is required. Experience within the Native American media system a plus.  Travel required.  This is a telecommuting position, but it is expected that the Policy Analyst will reside in Washington in order to participate in various proceedings. Judges ~ 2nd Session: May 23-26, 2011*
*repeats material covered in first session

This training will cover the basic skills required for conducting trials. Topics include: trial and courtroom management; basic evidentiary rulings; ethics and demeanor; due process; equal protection; sentencing; and other substantive law. Mock trial segments and demonstrations will be conducted to provide opportunities for judges to practice and receive feedback. New judges who complete this course will be able to conduct criminal trials from start to finish, and will understand the responsibilities and protections under the Indian Civil Rights Act (ICRA). Experienced judges will enhance their courtroom skills.

The honoring of any gun is offensive to Native Americans. Guns were used to kill Native Americans and take everything that belong to them. They were used to put Native Americans on reservations.

Hosted by the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU’s Indian Legal Program and the American Indian Policy Institute at ASU.

This conference will present and analyze contemporary issues that impact tribal land management and strategic development.  It will examine the history of Indian lands, integration of culture into planning, impact of global issues on reservation planning, impact of local issues on tribal land use, and the future of the fee-to-trust process.  Participants will leave the conference with a knowledge that will allow tribes to grow and manage their land base in an economically efficient and culturally sensitive manner.    Keynote Lunch Speaker:  Allison Binney, Akin Gump.
