    How does an amicus brief like this play out in terms of inter-band politics? Or, to be more to the point, does a dispute like the casino issue threaten to cleave relationships? I’m just curious.

    The effect usually is not good, but tribes in Michigan have been known to come together on other salient issues when faced with common adversaries.
