Employee serves as attorney for the Yakama Nation Public Defenders office and is responsible for providing professional, legal assistance to Tribal member client in Tribal, State, and Federal Court systems or administrative agencies as assigned by the Lead Attorney-Program Manager, with an emphasis on civil matters. Employee is responsible for providing a full ranges of legal services to Tribal members in areas of civil, family and Federal Indian Law matters, and in criminal matters as assigned by the Lead Attorney-Program Manager. Services include legal research, evaluations of potential cases, analysis and preparation of accepted cases, motions, brief, hearings, trials and appeals. Representation will include all stages of civil proceedings through disposition and review hearings until the attorney withdraws. Representation in criminal matter will include all stages of criminal proceedings from arraignment through disposition. The attorney may be appointed by the court(s) as Guardian Ad Litem in matters involving Tribal members deemed incompetent or for those persons placed in protective custody.

DESCRIPTION — Wisconsin Judicare’s Indian Law Office has an opening in Wausau, WI beginning in July for an attorney to represent Native American individuals and groups on a variety of issues including criminal defense representation in tribal courts and Indian law litigation in tribal and state courts. Wisconsin Judicare is a non-profit legal services law firm serving northern Wisconsin where there are 11 Indian reservations.
DUTIES — (1) Maintain caseload on behalf of Indian individuals and groups; (2) Participate in tribal court development and community education projects; and (3) Carry out training and back-up assistance to private attorneys.
QUALIFICATIONS — (1) Admission to practice law in Wisconsin; (2) Good communications skills; and (3) Knowledge of Native American issues preferred.

The Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe is seeking proposals from persons in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association or graduates of an ABA accredited law school with Indian law experience who are interested serving as a Tribal Court Judge for the Sauk-Suiattle Tribal Court.
The Sauk-Suiattle Tribal Court convenes on the Sauk-Suiattle Indian Reservation located near Darrington, Washington one to two full days per month to hold civil and criminal trials and hearings.
A person serving as judge must also be available telephonically and/or electronically from time to time as occasionally the need arises to address requests by tribal law enforcement for search warrants and to issue temporary orders such as domestic violence protection orders, restraining orders, and emergency shelter care orders arising from Indian Child Welfare Act cases.
No particular format is required for submission of a proposal. Your proposal may propose an hourly, monthly or daily rate for providing judicial services. Persons willing to serve as a Judge for the Sauk-Suiattle Tribal Court should send a letter of interest or resume and proposal by July 30, 2015 to:
