State Bar of Wisconsin Legal Education Scholarship

The Indian Law Section (ILS) of the State Bar of Wisconsin was created in part to bring together those who have a special interest in Indian Law. In order to foster this special interest, the ILS intends to award a scholarship to a deserving third-year law student who intends to practice Indian Law in the state of Wisconsin. The award for the 2018-2019 school year will be $1,000. Future year award amounts are subject to change based upon student interest and ILS resources. Applications must be postmarked no later than May 25, 2018. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The recipient will be notified before the school year, and be formally recognized at the Annual Indian Law Section CLE.

Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship

The 2018 Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship is now open to students from a minority group that is underrepresented in San Francisco Bay Area law schools. The award amount is $10,000, and applications are due no later than April 20, 2018. Please visit their website for more information on qualifications and how to apply.

Bar Preparation Scholarship Announcement (New Mexico)

To support and promote the practice of Indian Law in New Mexico and to help defray the costs of preparing for and taking the New Mexico bar examination, the Indian Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico annually awards scholarships to third-year law students who intend to practice Indian Law in New Mexico. Students who will graduate in 2018 and take the bar examination within one year of graduation may apply. The 2018 Bar Scholarship will award up to a total of $4,000 or more in scholarships, which is subject to change based on the number of applicants, student interest and Indian Law Section resources. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2018.
