The Department of the Interior structures its SES positions in to categories to determine the minimum pay for each position. This is a Category 3 position. The minimum pay for this position is $155,705. Pay is set based on consideration of the selectee’s current salary and other factors.

This position is located in the Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor in Washington, D.C. The Associate Solicitor for Water Resources is an executive level attorney position and has primary responsibility for managing the Division and for the management of water resources litigation in the interest of the Department.

Skokomish Tribal Prosecutor Position

The Skokomish Indian Tribe is soliciting applications for a Tribal Prosecutor. This is a two year contract position, subject to renewal, with a contract rate of four thousand dollars ($4,000) per month. The contract requires the Tribal Prosecutor to be on site two days per week. The applicant also must be a member in good standing of a state or territorial bar association. The Tulalip Foundation seeks a Staff Attorney to work in the Tulalip Office of Civil Legal Aid (TOCLA).  TOCLA provides legal assistance to low income tribal members facing civil legal issues that affect their safety, family integrity, health, access to public benefits, and education.  TOCLA provides culturally sensitive competent representation in a holistic manner by collaborating with other tribal legal and social services to assist clients in identifying legal and non-legal needs and addressing barriers in accessing services.

 

This is a grant-funded position that ends September 30, 2015, with the possibility of being extended to December 31, 2015. For further details on the position, please see the attached job description.

Interior Solicitor — Indian Affairs Division Seeks Environmental Lawyer

Providing legal advice to the Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs and the Director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and their staff on a range of Indian law matters, but with a particular focus on Federal environmental law as it applies to Indian lands. This attorney will analyze complex legal issues and provide oral and written legal advice on the application of several Federal environmental laws, including, but not limited to, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, and the Clean Water Act. This attorney will also work on legal issues involving reservation boundaries, land-into-trust, forestry and grazing, and rights-of-way. Attorney-Advisors in the Branch of Environment and Lands draft legal memoranda and review and comment on client documents, including correspondence, policy papers, draft decisions, regulations, and handbooks. Attorney-Advisors also engage in administrative litigation before the Interior Board of Indian Appeals and work closely with the Department of Justice on litigation in federal district and appellate courts.
