Pueblo of Pojoaque General Counsel

Alaska Legal Services Corporation

Native Law Staff Attorney, Anchorage, Alaska. Provide legal services to Association of Village Council Presidents (“AVCP”) member Tribes and tribal members in. Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe

Associate Tribal Attorney.  The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe seeks a full-time Associate Tribal Attorney for its on-reservation Office of Tribal Attorney (“OTA”). The Lower Elwha Reservation is located five miles west of Port Angeles, WA, near Olympic National Park. The Environmental Law Institute

Research and Publications Internship. This position is for the Fall of 2021 and will be remote during the entire duration of the internship. Positions are available throughout the academic year (minimum 15 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters) and during the summer (full-time). Interns conduct in-depth secondary and primary research, attend and report on outside events, analyze, edit, and synthesize scholarly material, assist with preparation for environmental training courses, and provide limited administrative support. ELI integrates interns into the day-to-day operations of the Institute, and interns are encouraged to attend ELI-sponsored workshops, seminars, roundtable, and other events. In addition, interns will develop and complete an independent research project under the guidance of ELI staff. This individual will assist with representing parents in all juvenile cases including but not limited to child abuse, neglect, and dependency, unruly and delinquent cases. This position primarily involves representation of tribal clients in state child welfare proceedings and enforcing the Indian Child Welfare Act, and may also involve litigating other Native law matters on behalf of AVCP Tribes and tribal members. The Bethel ICWA attorney will be serving clients in cases primarily heard in Bethel, Alaska courts, serving clients in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. The attorney will be supervised and supported by ALSC staff.  The Bethel ICWA attorney will be expected to manage a caseload of state court child in need of aid cases and will also have the opportunity to participate in appellate and impact litigation.
