The Indigenous Law & Policy Center welcomes applications for the 2016–2017 Fellow position.
Position Summary
The ILPC Fellowship is a flexible position that offers one new law grad each year the chance to work in a setting that is both academic and clinical in nature. Depending on the particular interests of the Fellow, there may be more time spent developing academic articles, researching and writing briefs, interacting with students and legal professionals, or attending conferences centered on Indian law.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are an approximate list of the duties and responsibilities of past Fellows. The Fellow chosen will have the opportunity to spend more time in areas that interest them, but may have to complete additional duties as required by the ILPC.

NARF’s Alaska office is seeking applicants with a strong background in federal Indian law and public service for a two-year fellowship as NARF’s Alaska Fellow. Applicants must have a law degree from an accredited law school, a license to practice law in Alaska or the ability to be admitted by reciprocity or intention to sit for either the July 2016 or February 2017 bar exams, and experience working with American Indian or Alaska Native tribes. The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians seeks qualified licensed attorneys and/or non-attorneys for the position of Appellate Judge in the Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa Tribal Appellate Court. The Appellate Court has the following vacancies to fill:
The Appellate Court meets monthly. Oral argument is held in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
Appeals filed vary from year to year, but typically can be anywhere from 1 – 4 per year.
These positions include a $200 per month stipend (if not employed by the tribe). Licensed attorney positions are also paid at the rate of $150 per hour with a maximum billing of $5,000 per year.
